Celebration for the Lord
“13indeed it came to pass, when the trumpeters and singers were as one, to make one sound to be heard in praising and thanking the LORD, and when they lifted up their voice with the trumpets and cymbals and instruments of music, and praised the LORD, saying: “For He is good, For His mercy endures forever,” that the house, the house of the LORD, was filled with a cloud, 14 so that the priests could not continue ministering because of the cloud; for the glory of the LORD filled the house of God.” (II Chronicles 5:13-14)
After Solomon completed the temple, it was time for the people of Israel to move the ark into the temple. Solomon gathered the elders, heads of tribes, and the children of Israel together in the seventh month. There was great celebration and jubilation all throughout Israel for the ark was in a permanent place within the Most Holy Place of the temple! As it says in the scripture above, there were musicians with trumpets, cymbals, and singers praising the Lord! The praise was so wonderful that the temple was filled with the cloud! The cloud signified the Lord’s presence within the temple. The Lord indwelt the temple during the first worship service held.
This past Tuesday we celebrated the Independence Day of the United States in the seventh month of our calendar. All throughout the country there was patriotic music being played and fireworks bursting in brilliant displays of colors and sounds. Much like the children of Israel celebrating the ark being brought into the temple, we celebrated the creation of a God fearing nation a little over 200 years ago.
However, our nation has changed drastically since its founding. In the beginning the foundation was upon Christian principles. However, recently those principles are being replaced by humanism. How can we expect the Lord to fill this nation with His glory, when sin is being so publically displayed all throughout this country in television, movies, books, advertisements, and all other types of media with no shame?
The early church obeyed the teachings of Romans 13 to submit to the government since it was established by God. However, they prayed diligently for their government leaders to make wise decisions and be God fearing people. They prayed for change and wanted to see the Lord do a mighty work.
I encourage you my brothers and sisters to pray without ceasing for our country. We so desperately want to see a revival take place in our nation and to see a cloud the size of the United States descend upon us and fill this nation with His Holy Spirit! Keep praying and may God bless you and may God bless America!
